Finding a Placement

Riona will support any potential volunteers to decide what opportunites they want to pursue. We will then tell you more about them refer you to the organisation. Many organisations require some form of vetting - that may be informal interviews, Garda Vetting, references etc. Sligo Volunteer Centre will not be involved in this. This will be carried out by the organisation where you hope to volunteer.

The decision for a volunteer to become involved with an organisation remains entirely with the volunteer.

Our role is solely to match the placement and give whatever assistance is necessary facilitate the placement and introduction to the organisation.

What happens next?

With your consent, we pass on your contact details to the organisation and they will contact you directly to arrange to meet them.

We will follow up with you in a number of weeks to see how you are getting along and if you need more support from us.

We would appreciate if you could let us know when you start a placement or indeed if you have any difficulty in getting in otuch with organisations. We can offer support then as necessary.

SVC will operate a policy of equal opportunity within our service. We also aim to ensure that the organisations with whom we work are committed to a policy of equal opportunity.
